To object to the EC's redelineation proposal, you can resort to either one of these grounds provided by the 13th Schedule of the Federal Constitution
1. malapportionment -- violation of Section 2(c) which stipulates for "approximately equal" electorate sizes for constituencies within a state, with exceptions for -- not all rural areas -- only those rural constituencies with large AREA size; 2. gerrymandering - violation of Section 2(d) which stresses "maintenance of local ties" How do you know if the "local ties" in your constituency has been compromised? One way is to look at Google Maps with electoral boundaries overlaid to see if any boundary cuts communities apart. These are the examples in Selangor. Click and scroll through the gallery below and check out the red circles noting the partition of local ties. If you plan to file objection anywhere not covered and need our help, please state the constituency and let us know.
